“Games Spark Excitement for the Future” is the theme of gamescom 2026, taking place live in Cologne and online. As the world’s largest event for computer and video games, gamescom is the global hub for all things gaming. This year’s trends are ‘Saving the world through play’ and ‘Small teams, huge successes’. The event is also attracting significant political attention: for the first time, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit the world’s largest gaming event. Also expected are numerous top politicians from EU, federal and state levels, including European Commission Vice-President Henna Virkkunen, Vice-Chancellor Lars Klingbeil, Federal Minister Dorothee Bär and North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister-President Hendrik Wüst. From 26 to 30 August, Cologne will once again be fully dedicated to gaming.
