“Games & XR Mitteldeutschland e.V.” is an independent association comprised of members of the games and VR/AR (in short, XR) industry in the German states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia which aims to actively contribute to the structural transformation of the region of Central Germany. Gaming and XR are among the key technologies for successful digitalisation processes. With its concentration of institutions of higher education and an economic atmosphere encouraging entrepreneurship, Central Germany has the clear potential to make a name for itself as a home for future-oriented companies in the competition for skilled professionals. The association relies on its close-meshed network of members to promote interstate cooperation and guarantee the visibility of the Central German games and XR industry. Additional goals include: creating networking and further education offerings; establishing knowledge transfer to other, as yet non-games-related industries; and strengthening the economic and cultural status of games, virtual technologies and narrative forms, thus promoting understanding of these forces in society as well as their economic potential in the public interest.
