To be eligible for a standard membership, a company must be based in Germany and be active as a developer and/or publisher of games; furthermore, this activity must be of significant importance to the company’s operations, and the company must have been in existence in this form for at least 24 months without interruption at the time the application is made. The amount of the membership fee shall be based on the sales generated within Germany for the company by games, as well by hardware and accessories for the use of games, in the previous year.
To be eligible for a basic membership, a company must be based in Germany and be active as a developer and/or publisher of games; furthermore, this activity must be of significant importance to the company’s operations. Any company that has generated at least €2.5 million in annual sales in Germany with games is not eligible for a basic membership. The amount of the membership fee shall be based on the sales generated within Germany for the company by games, as well by hardware and accessories for the use of games, in the previous year.
Any company or natural person residing/based in Germany is eligible for an associate membership if they generate a significant portion of their sales with goods and/or services in the field of games. Typical examples include graphics studios, music studios, animation studios; game platforms; universities, educational institutions, research institutes; producers of technical software components and comprehensive solutions that can be used as the basis for computer and/or video games, e.g. middleware; server providers; providers of online technologies; consultants, such as lawyers or corporate consultants; and investors and providers of finance. Eligibility is determined on the basis of annual sales worldwide. If and insofar as natural persons are at issue, these should be independent and not – in whatever form – primarily active on behalf of a company in the games industry.
