Lars Vormann becomes new Head of gamescom at the BIU

Berlin, 20 October 2016 – The BIU, the German Games Industry Association, has announced that Lars Vormann became its new Head of gamescom & Public Events today. Vormann is responsible for managing BIU events. These include gamescom, the world’s biggest computer and video games event, of which the BIU is the sponsor, and the German Computer Games Awards, which are organised by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and the industry associations BIU and GAME. His remit therefore also includes the strategic further development of these events as well as partner acquisition. He succeeds Boris Lehfeld, who will continue to support the BIU in the areas of events and partnerships as a freelancer. As Head of gamescom & Public Events, Vormann reports directly to the BIU’s Managing Director Dr Maximilian Schenk.

‘We are delighted to have found a highly experienced event specialist in Lars Vormann, who has the necessary expertise and excellent links to the games industry thanks to his many years working for numerous games companies,’ says Schenk.

‘Together with Lars Vormann, we will open a new chapter in the gamescom story, which has developed positively in all areas in the past few years, in particular thanks to the endeavours of Boris Lehfeld. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to once again thank Boris Lehfeld for his outstanding work,’ says Ralf Wirsing of the BIU’s Executive Board.

‘The position of Head of gamescom & Public Events at the BIU is undoubtedly one of the most exciting challenges around for a project and event manager in the games industry – not just in Germany, but worldwide. I am therefore thrilled to be assuming responsibility for developing and realising gamescom, the world’s biggest computer and video games event,’ says Lars Vormann, the new Head of gamescom & Public Events at the BIU.
