Berlin, 05 March 2019 – game – the German Games Industry Association released its new publication ‘The German games industry’ today. The 75-page English-language guide gives a comprehensive overview of Germany as a games location. For example, it features data on the German games market and nationwide games promotion as well as a wealth of information about German game developers, gamescom and the country’s vocational training opportunities. Guest contributions from Benedikt Grindel (Ubisoft Blue Byte), Julia Pfiffer (astragon Entertainment), Johannes Roth (Mimimi Productions) and Linda Kruse (the Good Evil) additionally highlight the advantages that Germany offers as a development location. The guide is an expanded new edition of the ‘Guide to the German games industry’ published in 2017, all copies of which were snapped up in next to no time. The publication should appeal in particular to international investors and games companies wishing to open or expand branch offices in Germany. The guide will be available for collection for the first time at the German Pavilion (booth number S727-01) during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco (18 to 22 March). It can also be ordered or downloaded from game free of charge.

‘Our “The German games industry” guide illustrates why Germany has become an attractive location in which to develop games,’ says game Managing Director Felix Falk. ‘No other European country generates higher sales with games and the corresponding hardware, and few countries in Europe can offer a comparable infrastructure. What’s more, with games being promoted at the federal level in the near future, we will soon be competitive globally at this level too. The guide clearly structures all the information and demonstrates why it’s worth investing in Germany.’
