• Strong interest: a total of 79 developers and 16 publishers from 17 countries registered

Berlin, 1 September 2016 – Developers and publishers were very impressed with the presentations at the first Pitch & Match event organised by BIU.Dev at gamescom. This was the result of a survey of the participants that showed that the majority of the presentations were rated as good or even very good from both sides. In total, they led to a subsequent meeting between developer and publisher in 20 cases. All respondents (23) said they would recommend the first Pitch & Match. In collaboration with the Indie Arena Booth, it was the first time the network of German games developers had organised such an event at gamescom 2016. 79 developers and 16 publishers from 17 countries registered for the Pitch & Match for developers and publishers. The projects ranged from first-time projects to multi-platform titles from established studios. Developers presented concepts for PC, console, smartphone and tablet computer platforms. The publishers on site were Bandai Namco, Blue Byte, Daedalic , Deck 13 , Rovio Hatch , Gambitious, flaregames, Gameforge, Headup Games, InnoGames, Kalypso Media, Koch Media, Paradox Interactive, Six Foot / Grey Box, Square Enix, and Tencent. Each developer had about 15 to 20 minutes per slot to present their project to a publisher.

Maximilian Schenk, Managing Director of the BIU, the German Games Industry Association: ‘The opportunity offered by our Pitch & Match event at gamescom to bring developers and publishers together was heavily subscribed by a large number of companies. ‘The fact that so many developers and publishers have participated in this premiere shows strong interest in such events. With this new format, we are resolutely pursuing the goal of BIU.Dev and BIU.Net to better link the German games industry at both national and international levels and to create new opportunities.’

Peter Stein, Senior Licensing Manager at Gameforge 4D GmbH: ‘Organised, efficient, varied – as one of the pioneers of the BIU gamescom Pitch & Match, we can look back on a successful event. It was fully booked and we had the opportunity to link up with talented and motivated developers in the inviting atmosphere of the gamescom beer garden. We now look forward to a deepening of the talks after the trade fair.’

Max Kübler, producer at Deck 13 Interactive GmbH: ‘Our participation in the first Pitch & Match was a great success for us; not only because of the location, the sunny weather and the ice cream: we were also able to make many new contacts with talented indie developers and get to know a number of interesting game projects.’
